Happiness reaches far when it is inclusive.

Our star vendor, is Mrs. Dharamvati, an award winning potter who has fallen on hard times. She makes the most beautiful earthenware-  recyclable, natural and eco-friendly. Past two years, because of COVID, she has found it hard to sustain. Exhibitions/ Craft Fairs are banned and the order pipeline has dried up. Poor business is threatening to engulf her family in poverty.

The videos of migrant workers going home amidst covid because they lost their jobs, were incredibly moving. Craftspeople, equally affected, remain invisible and therefore ignored. The ones who are dependent on daily production and sales, just like Dharamvati  is, are staring at penury with their financial contribution threatened.

At Asili, we believe, the way forward is to elevate the value of craft. Artisans need more work, they need to be properly compensated by wages that reflect their level of skill and experience and ultimately pays better. With that in mind,  Anju Balyan, who heads Customer Experience at Asili, spent hours with Ms Dharamvati  and co-created Terracotta mugs for our customers. Anju has her pulse on customer expectations and with her keen sense of design, she was able to produce exclusive designs with a modern touch.

These mugs are:

  1. Reusable
  2. Washable
  3. Natural and Eco friendly
  4. Biodegradable
  5. Microwave safe

Baked at the right temperature, with the best clay moulded over days, each mug is unique and carries the imprint of a woman who is trying to regain her financial independence. Let’s start the festive season by making someone smile. Because SMILES ARE CONTAGIOUS!
